‘How to Get Away with Murder’ Season 2 to Be Cancelled? EP Talks ABC Series’ Fate Post Midseason Finale

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 2 is being plagued with cancellation rumors after the series' ratings dwindled, but is ABC really planning to ax it?

Pete Nowalk, the executive producer of "How to Get Away with Murder," hinted at the possible cancellation of the Viola Davis-starrer series, according to Design & Trend. In an interview, Nowalk said, "It's a good problem to have. Knowing season 3 is inevitable - not having to think, we'd better have a way to wrap this up in case we're cancelled."

However, HTGAWM fans need not worry because the successful TV series is not going off air anytime soon. ABC has just released the schedule of all the series that are coming back after the winter hiatus and the cult drama show is included in the list. The series is expected to return on air early, specifically on Feb. 11, 2016, together with other popular Shonda Rhimes shows, "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal," stated TV Series Finale.

The ratings of "How to Get Away with Murder" season 2 have caused it to lose some followers. From over 8 million viewers, the viewership during the season premiere decreased to its lowest at less than 6.5 million for episode 7, titled "I Want You to Die." On the other hand, for the last two episodes prior to the midseason finale, the numbers increased to 6.71 million in episode 8 and 7.19 million in episode 9.

The ABC series did not exactly disappoint with its episode 9 cliffhanger entitled "What Did We Do?" taken from the statement by Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) at the end. The ending revealed an even juicier plot, which would keep fans hooked until the spring premiere of the show.

The said ending added a curious plot twist wherein a younger Annalise was seen with ex-lover Eve Rothlow (Famke Janssen) watch a child, Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) being questioned by the police in an interrogation room. The finale has drawn many speculations about the storyline and is enough for fans to stick with the show until more is revealed when "How to Get Away with Murder" season 2 comes back in February.
