"Rizzoli & Isles" Season 6 ended with a cliffhanger when someone who was after Jane Rizzoli suddenly captured Dr. Maura Isles. While details about this encounter will finally be addressed when the second half of the season premieres in 2016, there remains a longstanding question among fans as to whether or not there is romance between its leading characters, Maura and Jane. "Rizzoli & Isles" Season 6B is expected to show the continuation of events from its midseason finale episode, which showed Maura (Sasha Alexander) fall into the arms of Jane's mysterious enemy. In its midseason finale, Jane (Angie Harmon) was subjected to a house arrest after receiving a threat from an unknown source.
Jane initially thought that her mother, Angela, was the one in danger only to realize when she got home that the kidnapper was after her best friend, Maura. TNT has not yet announced an official return date for "Rizzoli and Isles" Season 6, but Carter Matt reported on a possible Feb. 2016 return date for the crime drama.
Meanwhile, a separate report from Carter Matt pointed out on a possible romance taking place between Jane and Maura. According to the outlet, several fans have been shipping these two characters and romance is expected to blossom between them sooner or later.
However, the outlet pointed out that the show hasn't shown much evidence or clues in the past seasons, which hint on a bisexual nature in either of these two characters. It would also be hard for the show to transform their friendship into something more romantic in nature, as these two have been very open and comfortable with each other.
Several fans, however, aired their sentiments surrounding this possible romance between Jane and Maura. A user named Eva wrote: "It's difficult to watch them and NOT see an obvious romance... I'd want them to be paired up."
