‘Bridget Jones’ Diary 3’ Cast News: Ed Sheeran Confirmed to Appear on Film; Renee Zellweger Starrer Sequel Starts London Filming

"Bridget Jones' Diary 3" movie has signed British pop star Ed Sheeran to do a cameo role for the upcoming film, with the confirmation coming from the singer himself.

Sheeran posted a picture on his Instagram account on Monday, Nov. 23 when he was out in London filming with the production team. The 24-year-old British crooner captioned the photo with, "Spent the day being an actor in the new Bridget Jones movie. Loved it, you're gonna love it too."

According to Who Say, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter shot scenes on Monday with "Bridget Jones' Diary 3" lead actress Renee Zellweger. It is still unsure though if Sheeran will be playing a fictional character or himself in the film. What the "Thinking Out Loud" singer promised though is that fans will love the third installment of the film franchise.

Rumors connecting Sheeran to "Bridget Jones' Diary 3" started when a crew member was spotted filming his concert in Dublin, Ireland in August. This would have been brushed off by speculators but people in the concert spotted a Zellweger double in the concert. The said double was seen sitting on the shoulders of a man.

The "Kiss Me" singer had a brief stint at acting in a TV Series titled "The Bastard Executioner." However, the series was cancelled only a few episodes into its first season.

"Bridget Jones' Diary 3" will be missing Hugh Grant as he will no longer reprise his role after bowing out of the film in 2014. There have been talks that "Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey will play Jones' love interest but no one in the film production nor the cast has confirmed this, OR-POLITICS noted.

The third installment to the "Bridget Jones" film series is set years after the "Bridget Jones' Diary: The Edge of Reason" setting. With Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) out of the story, scriptwriters have to write in a semi-different plot from Helen Feilding's novel.

"Bridget Jones' Diary 3" is slated to hit the cinemas in September 2016.
