"Wonder Woman" official cast list has just been released along with a new promotional picture of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, but Hollywood A-lister Nicole Kidman's name was not mentioned.
Earlier rumors about Kidman being a part of the "Wonder Woman" film sparked some excitement among the actress' fans. However, the cast released by the production did not include the "Moulin Rouge" star's name.
The latest "Wonder Woman" cast list includes the names of Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Lucy Davis, Elena Anaya and Ewen Bremner, as reported by Examiner. From among the cast, it would seem likely that Wright will be taking on the role of Hippolyta, which was rumored to be played by Kidman. In the DC Comics, Hippolyta is the Queen of the Amazons and the mother of Diana a.k.a. Wonder Woman.
It was reported earlier that the 48-year-old Academy award winner is currently busy with HBO's production of the limited series "Big Little Lies" alongside Reese Witherspoon. Hence, it would be highly unlikely for the "Grace of Monaco" star to commit to the "Wonder Woman" production.
Meanwhile, other actors already confirmed to play roles in the upcoming DC superhero film include Said Taghmaoui of "American Hustle" and "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine. Taghmaoui is set to play a superhero while Pine will play Steve Tremor, Wonder Woman's love interest. Rumors have also been circulating that the "Jack Ryan" actor will play two roles in the film. Speculations say that the 35-year-old actor will play one of Steve Trevor's ancestors.
Filming of "Wonder Woman" has already commenced in the UK. Yet according to Comic Book Resources, the production will also shoot in Italy and France. Patty Jenkins is helming the film which is said to hit the cinemas on June 23, 2017.
Before that, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman will appear in the 2016 film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" along with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck.
