"Gotham" Season 2 "Son of Gotham" is considered the best penultimate episode of the series. Critics of the show think that episode 10 is magical.
"Gotham" season 2 is one episode away before it ends. And the show has delivered a better episode compared to episode 9. Screen Rant says that the "Son of Gotham" had a bucketload of work to do to put its conclusion to proper order for this mid-season.
It's obvious that "Gotham" Season 2 Episode 10 was fully loaded. It has covered major parts like Bruce and his personal issues, Gordon and Galavan, then of course Penguin and Nygma.
Screen Rants states that the events that transpired in Episode 10 of "Gotham" Season 2 simply demonstrates that Bruce is actually capable of doing things that Alfred thought he isn't. When Bruce is finally taking hold of his destiny, this means that the series is gearing towards a whole different level.
Seeing Gordon and Galavan are already meeting each other head-on, no more pretenses! Critic says that "it gives the show a direct route to ramp up Gordon's personal determination to bring down Theo, just as the Order of St. Dumas finds its way to Gotham to cleanse the city."
TV.com also states more positive things about "Gotham" Season 2 Episode 10. The site believes that the second to the last episode has done a nice rebound aside from being magical.
The critic recalls that the previous episodes of "Gotham" season one were plagued with "a slew of meh and shitty events." It appears like season 2 follows the pattern of this unevenness. Thus, "Son of Gotham" is actually a welcome break as it's entertaining and great. So the thing about this show is that "great episodes are so great and its awful episodes are at least entertaining for their terrible terribleness."
Another known website critic of "Gotham" is JoBlo. The site gives episode 10 a rating of 9 out of 10. It says that despite being left with so many questions and some things that were left in a cliffhanger, "Son of Gotham" was "one damn fine thrilling hour of television, and represents another high water mark for the series." Admittedly, the critic says that the "show has gotten so much better."
