‘Batman’ Comics News: New ‘Dark Knight’ is ‘Dick Grayson’; is Bruce Wayne Keeping the Cowl Off for Good?

If Superman in DC Comics changes the name of his alter ego, Batman Comics' Bruce Wayne is giving away his cowl to Dick Grayson. Yes! Dick Grayson is the new Dark Knight of Gotham City while Bruce Wayne no longer has the memory of him being the Caped Crusader.

The Verge reports the recent scoop from the mouth of writers Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV during the recent 2015 NY Comic Con. The writers of the "Caped Crusader" said that they are taking the changes as "an opportunity to look at the mythology from a whole new angle."

This is the time for both Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV to be daring in their storytelling. Although Snyder admitted that it is difficult to stories that no one has ever read. Batman has been a superhero character for 75 years, and obviously fans who almost grow up with the character know the story pretty well. This must be the challenge that Snyder and Tynion are facing right now.

But the change might be necessary since "because superhero comics are experiencing an unprecedented moment of creative if not freedom, elasticity." It is also pretty transparent that the market today likes "massive pop-cultural relevance." It is also noted that most media right now from comic books to films to video games including the VR have a large room for superhero stories. Reports say that "creators are competing to write stories that take chances."

In the NY Comic Con 2015, Snyder explained to the audience that creators like them (he and Tynion in particular) have the chance to be daring in their storytelling. "On these superhero books, as long as you're true to [the core concept] and love the character at the DNA level, companies are now welcoming calculated risk," Snyder added.

Having said that, fans are being hinted that comics creators would dissect their "Batman" material and present new angles to fans. Geek also reports that Tim Seeley and Tom King have good feelings that this year will be the year of Dick Grayson. They both want to place Dick Grayson in the center stage of the DC universe.

At present, Dick Grayson is not wearing yet any bat-persona. His character in DC Universe is the double-agent, and is appearing in other Bat books. Seeley and King said that Dick Grayson is "getting out there, becoming something big and important."
