"League of Legends" fans can now say goodbye to Poppy the "Iron Ambassador" as game developer Riot brought back a new and much improved Poppy the "Keeper of the Hammer."
Poppy, one of the oldest champions in "League of Legends," needed to step back just like the other old characters to give way to playable characters as Riot updated its game adding more content to it, Kotaku reported. Riot revealed that Poppy will be included in the modern era of "League of Legends." Poppy looks like a new champion now after developers did some reworking on her.
"Poppy's play revolves entirely around her ultimate, which means that major changes to it [have] ripple effects across her other abilities, gameplay role, and dynamics with her team and the opposing team. This means that a Poppy update to bring her kit up to current gameplay standards would require extensive work across the entire champion," Riot explained.
Poppy's gameplay kit was broken and fixing it would require more work. The problem came from her ultimate ability "diplomatic immunity," which casts a shield around her making her invincible to all enemy attacks except for a single opponent she targets. Riot needs to set up Poppy with "painful weakness" to offset the power of the spell.
Riot replaced some of Poppy's in-game abilities but she is still a hammer-wielding melee warrior. Poppy's new ultimate is an offensive ability that allows her to smash her huge hammer down onto the ground, sending all the enemies caught in its range flying.
Riot didn't change Poppy's "heroic charge," the "E" move. Just like the old Poppy, the new Poppy's heroic move allows her to tackle lunge forward and battle the enemies, dealing more damage and stunning opponents if they collide with a wall.
Poppy's new passive attack is called "iron ambassador." It allows her to attack the enemies with her buckler every few seconds gaining range and bonus magic damage. While "hammer shock," her new Q, is some kind of a ground-pound move that slows and damages enemies caught in its radius. The old "Q" was also a hammer-swing attack dealing normal attack damage, flat amount and 8% bonus damage from the target's max Health.
With her new moves, Poppy's dynamic character shows more when playing.
