"Star Wars: Battlefront" Update: The Fourth-Biggest Launch of 2015 Behind "FIFA 16", "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3", and "Fallout 4"

"Star Wars: Battlefront" is breaking records in EA's history, and soon in the history of gaming.

When "Star Wars: Battlefront" had its beta in October, it attracted 9 million beta participants across Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms making the beta for the shooter title largest beta in EA's history. "Battlefront" has done it again. As previously reported, "Star Wars: Battlefront" is now in the spotlight for being the "largest digital launch" in the history of its publisher Electronic Arts. So how is it doing in terms of physical sales?

According to Reuters, the world's largest videogame vendor GameStop reportedly has warned about slow sales for "Star Wars: Battlefront." Analysts then believe that it was too early to predict the sci-fi game's success and GameStop most like had not considered digital downloads, the Black Friday sale and the coming holidays, in which "Star Wars: Battlefront" is predicted to be a popular choice of gifts for players of all ages.

GameStop could be wrong after all. According to VideoGamer, based on GFK Chart Track "Star Wars: Battlefront" sold nearly 50% more physical copies on PlayStation 4 versus Xbox One and PC together. Moreover, without including digital sales it was reported that 59% of DICE's sci-fi shooter title sold in the UK last week were for PlayStation 4, then 39% sold on Xbox One and 2% sold on PC

EA did not release a total sales figure yet. But "Star Wars: Battlefront" turned out to be the fourth biggest launch in 2015, falling behind FIFA 16, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and Fallout 4. And comparing it with another title based on Star Wars franchise, "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed", "Battlefront" sold 117% more copies during its launch week. In general, it reportedly sold more units during its launch week than previous 2015 record-holding titles, "Batman: Arkham Knight" and The "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt"

"Star Wars: Battlefront" is now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
