"Person of Interest" Season 5 may not premiere till Summer of 2016, as CBS recently announced their midseason schedule with the Jim Caviezel-led crime drama missing on the list. While it looks like fans will still have a lot of waiting to do, spoilers for the upcoming season tease fans that Mr. Finch and Root will be on opposing sides when it comes to making changes to The Machine.

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Read on if you want to learn more about the details of this story.

"Person of Interest" has been renewed for Season 5 despite cancellation rumors making rounds on the Internet. While fans were able to let out a sigh of relief upon CBS' announcement of the show's renewal for another season, it looks like the network is delaying the show's return on TV.

According to Carter Matt, CBS recently announced its midseason schedule for new and returning shows, including "2 Broke Girls," "Mike & Molly," "Angel From Hell" "Survivor," "Undercover Boss," "The Amazing Raze," "Criminal Minds," "The Odd Couple" and "Code Black." The outlet noted that it was very surprising to see that "Person of Interest" was not included on the list, as the show was expected to premiere last fall only to be pushed back to a later premiere date.

Given this recently released midseason schedule from CBS, the outlet reported that it is possible that the network is looking into releasing "Person of Interest" Season 5 this coming summer. This late release date may help boost the show's ratings, as the network has less competition during this season.

Meanwhile, TVLine reported that 'POI' Season 5 will show Finch and Root debate on whether or not they should make some changes to The Machine.

"Root is still [The Machine's] No. 1 champion," Amy Acker said. "So she is trying to convince Harold that we should make some 'modifications' while we're rebuilding her."
