Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti together with his wife, Amy Wakeland, are selling their home featuring a midcentury modern design for $1.65 million.
The property, located in Echo Park, Los Angeles, is made available for sale on the market through Sotheby's International Realty. Jacqueline Rager holds the listing, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Garcetti home was designed by Daniel L. Dworsky and redeveloped by Scrafano Architects. Sitting on nearly half an acre, the post-and-beam-style home is perfectly situated allowing one to view the city, canyon and the valley surrounding it.
The 1953 house has a renovated kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining area, plus three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The living room, on the other hand, is divided by a two-sided fireplace. The property consists of an open-area floorplan which has polished concrete floors, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
Outdoors, the property features terraced vegetable gardens and an orchard. There are also various patios plus an outdoor dining area. Below the house is a carport fitted for two vehicles.
The 1,900-square foot house was originally bought by Garcetti and Wakeland for $345,000 in 2000. According to the Wall Street Journal, it has been rented out since 2011 after Garcetti and Wakeland purchased a much bigger house located in Silver Lake. However, the couple also sold the said property to Anthony Gonzalez, a member of the electronic music band M83, for $1.9m last year.
The Garcetti family now lives in the Getty House, the official residence of the Los Angeles city mayor situated in Windsor Square.
Garcetti is the 24nd mayor of Los Angeles. He also served as the former president of Los Angeles City Council for six years, from 2006 to 2012. He was elected in the mayoral position last summer 2013, defeating Wendy Jane Greuel, a Los Angeles City Controller from 2009 to 2013.
