‘FRIENDS’ star Matthew Perry lists Malibu ‘Sober living’ home for $12.5 million

Matthew Perry, the actor best known for playing "Chandler Bing" in the hit sitcom "Friends", has reportedly listed his Malibu home for sale with an asking price of $12.5 million.

Perry's home was earlier known as the Pier House because of its location and architectural excellence. But, he converted it into a "sober living facility" called the "Perry House" that offers help to people struggling with addiction.

In a 2013 interview, Perry told People Magazine that he had collaborated with addiction specialist Earl Hightower to create the facility, which offers 12-step workshops and meditation programs.

"When I die, I'd like 'Friends' to be listed behind helping people," Perry told the magazine.

Perry has himself struggled with addiction for years. In the interview, he also opened up about his issues and how he had to go to rehab twice.

"I had a big problem with alcohol and pills and I couldn't stop. Eventually things got so bad that I couldn't hide it, and then everybody knew."

However, he is determined to help people out of addiction.

"The interesting reason that I can be so helpful to people now is that I screwed up so often. It's nice for people to see that somebody who once struggled in their life is not struggling anymore."

As Perry has listed the home now, the sober living facility will relocate to some place in Studio City, which will be a better accessible location to struggling people, reports the Los Angeles Times. The listing of the residence lies with Mark Rutstein and Greg Holcomb of Partners Trust Real Estate Brokerage and Acquisitions.

Public records of the home show that it last sold in 2005 for $6.5 million. The residence is a four bedroom-five bathroom single-family home, sitting on a 2.49-acre lot.

Interiors of the ocean-facing home features mixed tile and wooden floors, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and slider doors - all set in an open floor plan. There is a modern kitchen, a home theater and a games room. Outside, the place has a garden, a swimming pool and a fire pit. Sound systems are installed both inside and outside the home.

The listing describes the home as "Truly a world class estate" that is a "stunning example of contemporary architecture with spectacular and awe-inspiring ocean views."

Perry also has another residence in Malibu that he purchased in 2009 and let out for rent last year for $40,000 a month. He also sold off his Hollywood Hills property in February 2013.
