'General Hospital' To Be Cancelled? ABC Exec Nathan Varni Addressed Rumors

"General Hospital" fans were reportedly worried when rumors came out that the show is only given six months to improve its ratings otherwise the daytime soap will be cancelled.

It was 24 Hours Toronto who reported that an insider told them that General Hospital's executive producer Frank Valentini is only given "six months to improve GH's dismal ratings" or he is out.

According to Soap Shows, it was reported that there is a possibility for Valentini to lose his job, however, they did not mention that "General Hospital" will be cancelled. As a matter of fact, the website mentioned that despite of the show's rating woes as well as backstage issues involving lightweight executive Nathan Varni,"it's unlikely that ABC will cancel GH."

And now, ABC's executive Varni issued a statement through Facebook to clear things up which says, "To set the record straight, General Hospital is not being cancelled and Frank Valentini continues to be one of the best Executive Producers working in television today and we are honored to call him our partner and friend. For those who enjoy getting true fans up in arms and in a panic, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but all rumors circulating around this week are absolutely 100% NOT TRUE."

Varni thanked the fans for their continued support to "General Hospital" and said "It is appreciated more than you know by ABC and all of our actors, writers, producers and hard working crew who all work tirelessly producing over 260+ hours of scripted television for you each and every year. We look forward to celebrating the soap genre and bringing GH into your homes for many years to come! Thank you!"

ATTENTION GH FAMILY THIS IS A MUST READ!! I have been screaming it for months, but maybe straight from the top people...

Meanwhile, William Devry also shared an enlightenment on Facebook about the said rumors and wrote, "While it's true that networks and shows strive to achieve the best quality product that produce viable ratings, there is no truth to that rumor. ABC has no plans to pull the plug on your beloved GH. Normally I just this stuff slide, but it's been a busy week on rumor mill. Much love to my GH fans. xo."

GH Alert: There's been a hateful blog out there who has mentioned GH has 6 months to improve ratings or be cancelled....
