Could Nick and Chelsea be "The Young and The Restless'" new power couple? For actor Joshua Morrow, this new romance is certainly possible.
In the daytime drama, Morrow's character Nick Newman is still married to Sage (Kelly Sullivan), but they have been growing apart since falsely learning that their son died. While a divorce has not been hinted, Morrow is already considering his character's future leading lady.
According to Soap Hub, Morrow participated in a Q&A session with "Y&R" fans on Facebook this week. One fan asked the 41-year-old actor who he thought Nick should hook up if and when his marriage to Sage crumbles. The actor's number one pick was Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), his half-brother Adam's (Justin Hartley) wife.
"I look forward to working with all of the ladies," he reportedly answered. "I see a potential story with Chelsea, Phyllis, Sage and Sharon...and maybe even Avery again, fingers crossed."
Interestingly, Nick and Chelsea's stories are deeply entwined in the soap's long history of affairs. Sage, used to be with Nick's half-brother Adam. Until now, Sage still confides with Adam and they remain good friends. Morrow's hint of a Nick-Chelsea pairing has led fans to predict that Sage and Adam will rekindle their romance, leaving Chelsea out in the cold.
Meanwhile, Soap Shows recently conducted a poll about Nick and Sage's future.
"From the start of their whirlwind romance, the couple has garnered tons of fan support, but do they want them to stay together?" Soap Shows asked.
With more than 3,200 responses, 53 percent said that the couple is over; 27 percent is hopeful of a positive turnaround, while the remaining 20 percent is unsure how the story will pan out.
Adding to the speculation, Morrow concluded that he would love to spend more screen time with Chelsea.
"Fingers crossed...I love the potential of that story," he said.
"The Young and The Restless" airs Mondays to Fridays, 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
