Former Walt Disney Estate in Holmby Hills Sells for $74 Million (TOUR)

The famous Holmby Hills estate that once belonged to Walt Disney, the famous animator and business magnate, has sold for $74 million.

Owner of the gargantuan estate - Gabriel Brener - who also co-owns the soccer club "Houston Dynamo" - listed the estate for $90 million with Jay Harris and Mauricio Umansky of the Agency and has finally found a buyer for the historic property, according to the Wall Street Journal.

It came up for the first time in October 2011, but the price remained undisclosed. A year later, the lofty tag was revealed.

Gabriel and his wife reportedly purchased the estate in the late 90s for $8.5 million and razed it down to build the current 35,000-square-feet mansion, after he acquired more land nearby.

Roughly spanning an area of 4 acres now, the house has eight bedrooms and 17 bathrooms that completed construction in 2001. Called the Carolwood Estate, the residence boasts of beautiful jade marble flooring, crown molding and plaster-veneered walls. Stacked with luxury amenities, the residence is a wonder in its own.

The main home is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a lap-pool. There is ample parking space, a putting green, a tennis court and also a 46-feet-long S-shaped tunnel that Walt Disney built to run a one-eighth scale steam engine railroad. The tunnel was preserved during the renovation.

At that time, Walt Disney also built a barn house and control room for the railroad and the engines that ran on them. It was his inspiration for Disneyland.

CNN Money interviewed listing agent Jay Harris, who gave them a tour of the entire estate. Check the place out in a video below:
