Big Bang To Disband? Taeyang’s MAMA Remarks Suggest So

During the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) that took place in Hong Kong last week, Big Bang's vocalist Taeyang made some remarks which suggest that the Korean group might fall apart soon.

According to Kpopstarz, in his acceptance speech for the Artist of the Year award that the Kpop boy band has earned, Teayang said, "It may be difficult for all five of the Big Bang members to attend MAMA all together from now on. It was an honor to be able to put on the kind of performances we wanted to through MAMA, and thank you for the great award."

His remarks though was overshadowed by his next statement commenting on how the other groups were not able to stay until that part of the event to witness them receive their awards. Taeyang said, "If there's one thing that leaves much to be desired, it's that we wished for the award ceremony to be a place of celebration until the end, but many singers aren't at their seats."

"Many wanted to stay, but they had no choice but to leave early for other schedules or catch a plane," a rep for Mnet said. "Big Bang's juniors iKON also had to leave in the second half of the awards ceremony, because they had other schedules to attend to."

Going back to Taeyang's words which might have a bigger, more serious impact to one of the favorite Kpop singer groups and their fans, it looks like the vocalist was hinting of the impending military enlistment of the members. This is not impossible given that four of them are already in their late 20s and would need to be at the mandatory military service for two years.

Back in April, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk said that he is confident that group will remain popular and can do solo activities.

"The army is definitely something you have to do, but they each have strong abilities as solo artists. Even if one member goes to the army, they are still Big Bang. Even if two members go to the army, they are still Big Bang. They will continue to protect their name as BIGBANG and they plan to consistently promote through solo and unit activities," Yang Hyun said.
