Gigi Hadid made a big name in 2015. This year she signed a contract with Maybelline as the major brand ambassador, became the face of Vogue magazine for five different international issues, took the stage at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and doubly increased her fame.
Hadid, 20, rose to fame first through social media, boasting over nine million followers on Instagram alone. She managed to keep her supermodel label on the side with her nothing-but-real posts, allowing her to become a "social media sweetheart."
The Washington Post reported that after the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the celebrity supermodel hit back at haters with a viral Instagram post.
"I'm not going to lie, I did let the negativity get to me a little," she wrote after some commenters made rude remarks about her runway bikini photo. "Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body... if I didn't have the body I do, I wouldn't have the career I do." Her words may express insecurities coming from a "supermodel," however, it only tells how human she is.
The runway star was even more talked about when she was seen hanging out with the "most enviable squad" drawer, Taylor Swift. She also has had close snaps with her fellow Victoria's Secret supermodel, Kendall Jenner. Aside from that, Hadid is rumored to be dating the former One Direction member turned solo performer, Zayn Malik.
Hadid has the appeal which brought her to the limelight. However, her modeling genes are not made out by herself alone. The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star and former model mom, Yolanda Foster passed the "Bad Blood" to her. And speaking of which, Hadid made an appearance in her co-squad Swift's music video.
MTV News reports that Hadid redefines the Supers' playbook and stands out among other top models today, namely Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, and Jourdan Dunn. The report says Hadid has all it takes to become a supermodel.
Hadid apparently dominates the fashion industry this year as she won the title, "Model of the Year" at the First Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards. Hadid became a supermodel only a year after her first runway debut in 2014.
