Brian Cushing, the Houston Texans' inside linebacker, has reportedly purchased a home in Houston for $2.2 million.
The Los Angeles Times broke the news of the sale, noting that Carol Rowley of Greenwood King Properties represented the athlete in the transaction.
The news of the purchase comes just after Cushing welcomed his second baby boy with wife Megan. The couple already has a two-year-old son Cayden, according to CBS Local.
Public records show that Cushing closed on the house late in May. The home was listed for $2.19 million since January, this year.
The residence is a brand new house built just before it was listed. The listing also only offers floor-plans and a sketch of the house.
Listing records of the house show that the three-storey home spans an area of 5,435 square feet and is comprised of four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms.
The floor plan reveals a wide covered porch opening into a foyer that has a study to its left and the living room to its right. Heading straight from the foyer, there is a hall that has spiral staircase leading to the upper levels. The main floor also has a dining room, a wine cellar, a family room, the kitchen with a mid-rise island and a rear-end patio as well.
The upper level is home to two guest suites and the master suite that covers the full right wing of the floor. The master bedroom has separate his' and her's walk-in closets and a huge master bath. There is a rood deck opening out from the suite.
The third floor has a game room and a lot of open empty space that the floor plan doesn't show what it's dedicated to.
The home reportedly has a 140-square-foot open backyard that could easily accommodate a pool. There is an attached two-car garage as well.
The listing described the place as:
"Custom elements include a grand circular staircase, wine room, solid wood floors, fireplace, elevator shaft, Brookhaven cabinetry, Miele German appliances & La Forge French hardware. Energy efficient features consist of a geothermal heating and cooling system, 16 SEER Lennox HVAC, 2x6 framing with cellulose insulation & more."
Cushing had his Missouri City home on the market for $1.13 million. However, it has been de-listed since.
Cushing was selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft and shot to fame for recording a safety against the Oakland Raiders in 2009, which made him the first Texan to record a safety since 2002. In January 2005, Cushing was titled NFL Defensive Rookie of The Year.
However, the talented linebacker has had his share of controversies. Cushing was suspended for the first four games of the 2010 season for consuming performance - enhancing substances above prescribed levels.
He is currently put on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to a nose injury.
