2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid LT to Be Available in Spring, Price Starts at $28,645

Chevrolet is now preparing for the release of its eco-friendly offering as it is coming up with its new 2016 Malibu Hybrid.

In an article from the Northern Californian, the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu LT's price will start at $28,645, including the destination price of $875. The car has been built keeping the fuel economy in mind. With its price, the 2016 Malibu Hybrid LT is $6,145 more expensive than the base 2016 Malibu. It is cheaper than the Toyota Camry Hybrid, yet more expensive than the base Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Ford Fusion Hybrid.

With such a huge amount for a car, it is obvious that it is packed with safety features and standard convenience to the mix. The Malibu Hybrid has been introduced with a Chevrolet MyLink radio with a seven-inch touch screen panel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility, push button start, 10 airbags, cruise control, low speed front automatic breaking system, front pedestrian breaking and teen driver monitoring features. It has a new Ecotec 1.8-liter inline-four engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the second-row seats.

According to Tech Times, the upcoming car is targeting a fuel economy of 48 miles per gallon, way higher compared to three miles per gallon from the previous car. However, this is merely the figure the auto manufacturer wishes to achieve, and users have to wait until the EPA makes its own estimates to have an impression of what the 2016 Malibu Hybrid LT's capacity in terms of fuel capacity.

"The Malibu leverages knowledge and technology directly from the second-generation Chevrolet Volt," said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers' marketing director. "By leveraging technology, we are broadening our level of expertise and lessons learned to bring consumers a world-class hybrid."

Although the Malibu is not a new model, the hybrid model will be the first electric and full gas car in its class.
