"Dancing With the Stars" alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy shared details about his proposal to Peta Murgatroyd after announcing their engagement last week. The dance reality show's pro dancer admitted that not even his parents knew his plans of proposing to Murgatroyd .
Chmerkovskiy told Entertainment Tonight that no one knew about the proposal. "I have a big circle of people that I've accumulated over the years that are now her friends and her family, and if you say just the closest few, [that would be] like 50 people, so I decided not to say anything to anybody. No mom, no dad," the 35-year-old TV personality explained.
"I also wanted to be kind of like a surprise for everybody," Chmerkovskiy continued. "Everybody had an amazing moment that was very unforgettable. And things like this need to be unforgettable. It needs to be special. But I told her I'm not planning anything else! I'm done."
The wedding will happen in Los Angeles. Murgatroyd, Chmerkovskiy's fellow dancer on DWTS, shared that she's completely fine with planning their wedding.
"I'm happy with that. I want to do it all, I'm cool with that. He can just sit there and turn up for the big day," the 29-year-old dancer said.
When asked why she gave the big YES, she replied, "I couldn't see myself with anybody else, he's the love of my life."
Chmerkovskiy pulled off an unforgettable proposal, according to Brides. He dopped to one knee in the middle of a performance and shocked everyone - including the entire audience - as he popped the question to Murgatroyd.
He also talked about the engagement ring. "I worked with an incredible company [called] Cantamessa," he said, explaining about the stunning ring. "Their designs have been worn by royal families all over the world. I was Skyping with a group of Italian jewelry-maker that are fourth or fifth generation!"
With all of these, Murgatroyd can look forward to having a really "big" day with Chmerkovskiy.
