'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Star Daisy Ridley Talks about Overcoming Her Fears While Filming the Movie

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actress Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey's character, admitted to having struggled with fear while filming the movie.

The latest "Star Wars" film is Ridley's first ever major motion picture. "Because I hadn't made a film before, the whole thing was scary," Ridley shared in an interview with People. "I had to get over the overwhelming fear of it. That was the hardest thing."

This seems to be unsurprising since Ridley's only appearance after joining the "Star Wars" cast was a 15-second scene in a British period television drama series, "Mr. Selfridge," where she portrayed the role of a young woman named Roxy.

Since then, the 23-year-old actress has been seen in various movie trailers, TV spots, posters, toys and other activities promoting the movie. Because the complete name of her character, Rey has not yet been made public, "Star Wars" fans were left speculating about Rey's life. One of the fans guessed that Rey, described by Ridley as "solitary" but "not a princess," is somehow connected to the family of Skywalker.

Ridley showed her tough side by overcoming her own nightmare and beating away all the doubts she had felt. Cinema Blend reported that the nervousness felt by the actress led to J.J. Abrams calling her acting in the early days of the movie's shooting as "wooden." The pressure of being in one of the biggest movies of the year, plus being a newcomer in a feature film, are good explanations why Ridley might have spoken shaky lines in her first scenes.

Mike Reyes of Cinema Blend even found Ridley's actions, i.e. overcoming self-doubt, to be "eandering." Ridley's co-stars in the "Star Wars" movie might not admit this, but the level of acting career experience would not matter when faced with such a big project like "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The fact that Ridley did have some anxiety during the filming is just a normal thing. She even appeared to be more natural in her actions making her the perfect fit for her role in the movie.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the much-anticipated installment in the "Star Wars" film series, is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18.
