OtherSide Entertainment officially announced "System Shock 3." It is said that the virtual reality support is under consideration, and SHODAN is back and sounds creepier than ever.
OtherSide Tease website's countdown timer has expired, and it is replaced by an artistic recreation of the game's unfriendly AI, SHODAN, and "System Shock 3," as reported by the Irish Examiner.
The game fans are invited to sign up for updates and promotions. As part of the sign-up process, fans will take a survey where they are asked about their experience with the series to date, their prefer gaming machine and how interested they are in virtual gaming. From those who participated, 16 lucky fans will win a limited edition SHODAN print by series concept artist Robb Waters.
There is also a creepy audio file on the lower page, where SHODAN mocks the visitor by asking: "Did you think I'd forgotten you, insect?"
According to Destructoid, the "System Shock 3" that was announced by the OtherSide Entertainment last week is not related to the work going on at Night Dive Studios led by Tim Stellmach, which is currently working on a remake of the first "System Shock." The OtherSide's project is a brand new, legitimate sequel of the classic game.
While Stellmach's studio is the one that designed the "System Shock" first, OtherSide is kind of a new studio making the follow-up to one of the best acknowledged games of all time. This may give fans a reason to doubt the game.
However, OtherSide is led by Paul Neurath, who also led the Looking Glass Studio which released the "System Shock 2" for Windows PC. So chances are, "System Shock 3" is really on its way.
Although there are no other details about the game other than the fact that it is happening, this news -- after 16 long years -- is expected to appease the game's fans for now.
