Quentin Tarantino was at The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday on Sirius XM. The award-winning director spent no time beating around the bush and accused Walt Disney Studios of using its "force" to steal Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles to screen "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Tarantino claims that the ArcLight cinema chain was originally reserved for "The Hateful Eight," his latest directorial masterpiece starring Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Jason Leigh, an E! Online article said.
Representatives for Walt Disney and ArcLight still have not made any comment about Tarantino's accusations.
"I just learned something the other day," "The Inglorious Basterds" director said. "It was real bad news and it really f--king pissed me off and I think I want to voice it right now. Basically, and I'm not talking about the whole country, I'm talking about one theater in particular. We were gonna play at the Cinerama Dome on the 25th, we were gonna open there and play there exclusively for two weeks and Star Wars was gonna play the two weeks before us."
He alleges that officials from Walt Disney Studios told the popular cinema chain that if the Cinerama Dome did not screen the highly anticipated Star Wars film during the entire holiday season, Disney will never show the film to any of its locations.
"They've got the biggest movie in the world. We're talking about one effing theater," he added. They are going out of their way to f--k me."
The latest Star Wars movie is the start of a new trilogy which is actually its first after 10 long years. The movie has already hit cinemas in certain parts of the world, and in some parts, today. On the other hand, Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" is set for a limited theatrical release on Christmas Day, December 25, and afterwards it will be shown in more theaters on January 1st.
It has been reported that over $100 million worth of tickets were already ordered in advance for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Tarantino also noted that there are also a number of great movies that will be coming out at the same time this holiday season. There are Sisters, Joy and Daddy's Home by Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. He admits that they are no serious competition to Star Wars.
The "Django Unchained" director also mentioned in the show that he has "made a lot of money for the Disney corporation." He was referring to the time Disney owned Miramax which was behind his "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill" movies.
Aside from making negative comments about Star Wars years ago, he said that he is not interested in the new trilogy. "I could so care less... No, sorry. Especially if Disney's going to do it. I'm not interested in the Simon West version of Star Wars."
