After landing an important role in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2," Stephen Amell of "Arrow" seems ready to do another big screen role. However, this time it is not a DC superhero role but as a character in a rival universe, Marvel.
Amell, who plays the DC superhero Green Arrow in the hit CW series, is open to playing a Marvel character, in spite of it being a superhero in the rival universe. According to MTV, the Canadian actor had a Q&A session with fans on Facebook and someone asked him if he was open to playing a Marvel character in the movies.
The 34-year-old actor said, "Sure, why not? I'm up for roles - movie roles - although I've never really read Marvel Comics and I was always a DC guy even before I was a DC guy. But it's not like if I got offered an awesome Marvel superhero, I'd be like 'No, I can't.'"
Amell has been playing Oliver Queen, also known as the Green Arrow, in the CW series "Arrow" for four seasons now. The DC superhero-inspired TV show has become a successful hit among viewers and although DC is taking almost all its superheroes to the big screen soon, courtesy of "Justice League," the film production does not seem keen on casting any actor from the CW shows.
With this said, even if the Green Arrow appears in the 2017 "Justice League: Part One" flick, there is a slim-to-none chance for Amell to reprise his role in the movie.
Meanwhile, fans of the actor have already made speculations as to which Marvel character would be best suited for him. Hawkeye, who is similar to the role Stephen is playing in the small screen, is no longer available to play since Jeremy Renner already plays the character in "The Avengers" movies. For Cosmic Book News, Richard Rider Nova could be the best Marvel superhero for Amell to play.
Catch Stephen Amell on CW's "Arrow" and in the upcoming film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows."
