'The Vampire Diaries' News: Ian Somerhalder Posts Cryptic Tweet, Will He Leave the Show Like Nina Dobrev?

Rumors are swirling that Ian Somerhalder will follow Nina Dobrev's lead and quit "The Vampire Diaries" before its presumed doom. Early this month, Somerhalder posted a cryptic message on Twitter that suggests the actor may be going through a difficult time.

"Been taking a moment to process all that's going on around me," Somerhalder wrote. "Have a bunch to say, talk soon... Love, Ian."

As previously reported, "TWD" is moving to a Friday timeslot starting Jan. 29, 2016, which is being seen by fans as a death sentence. The show has not been doing well in the ratings since Dobrev's departure in Season 6.

There have been rumors that Dobrev quit the show because she couldn't bear working with ex-boyfriend Somerhalder, who has recently tied the knot with Nikki Reed. Last October, Dobrev squashed these reports and said she's just looking for other mature projects.

"I don't just want to do things that are the pretty girl with lots of makeup, I want to get into the gritty stuff and get down and dirty and dark and really feed my soul and not my vanity," Dobrev told Interview Magazine.

Last November, Somerhalder still tried to maintain a positive outlook about his show sans Dobrev.

"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after [Nina Dobrev] was gone. And I was one of those people," he told Variety. "What we've just started shooting is such a departure (from what is expected of the show). The way the story was put together ... every artisan from set to producers to wardrobe to everyone was just so on-point."

Now, Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Somerhalder's recent ambiguous tweet could mean that the actor is singing a different tune. Fans fear that his character cannot hold "TVD" alone, and speculate that the actor may make a jump before the ship sinks.

Reportedly, Reed has been pushing him to quit the show before it gets cancelled, and is finding ways to save his career. Somerhalder and Reed began dating in 2014. Last April, the two got married in Malibu, California.
