'Miss Universe 2015' Gone Wrong: Family Feud's Steve Harvey Apologizes for Proclaiming Miss Colombia as Winner; Miss Philippines Shocked by Twist

"Miss Universe 2015" host Steve Harvey mistakenly crowned Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo as the winner of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, is the Miss Universe 2015 and Miss Colombia is the first runner-up.

Miss Colombia already thought she bagged the crown and then Harvey immediately recognized his mistake and said, "Okay, folks, I have to apologize."  He then corrected himself, held up the card with the results and said that Miss Colombia was the first runner-up. This happened on live television broadcast, CNN Money reported.

Miss Philippines, who had accepted her fate, was suddenly looking shocked and surprised by the quick turnaround of the night's events.  Wurtzbach was already at the back end of the stage with the other contestants while the crowd was cheering on Miss Colombia.

After more than a minute into the celebration, Harvey went back to the center of the stage, and apologetically, re-announced the winners. Wurtzbach simply covered her mouth in disbelief.

Miss Philippines then simply walked back to the front of the stage and waited for Miss Universe 2014 to hand over the Miss Universe Crown.

Meanwhile, Harvey looking embarrassed, showed the card where the winner and the first runner-ups names were written in small letters. He acknowledges his horrible mistake and asked not to take it against the ladies.

The "Miss Universe 2015" organizers also issued an official statement, apologizing to the parties involved, Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia, and also to their respective fans.  "Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play. We witnessed that tonight when the wrong winner was initially announced," NBC News reported.

After the sad mishap, fans of the "Miss Universe 2015" pageant immediately took it on to social media websites to put out their reaction. Many were also shocked at what had happened on live television.

Harvey is known for being the "Family Feud" host and a comedian.  He also posted on Twitter to apologize for the mistake he had created.
