New HTC Vive Headset, Controllers Photos Leaked; CEO Revealed There Will be Major Vive News at CES 2016

HTC and Valve's Vive virtual reality headset won't be available until 2016, but a pair of leaked images have been making some rounds on online forums and tech sites. The photos show the second Vive headset and new controllers.

Apparently, these images were initially posted on HTC's site but quickly removed. Yet, the removal was not quick enough to avoid getting spotted by some eagle-eyed Reddit users, as reported by IGN.

It is clear that the next headset will feature the same design as the first one, but it has a smoother front and has only one camera, compared to the first one which has two cameras. The new controllers that come with the headset also received a new design, featuring a smoother, more finalized look.

HTC seems to let go of the hexagonal trackers for the circular ones as well. There are also four silver dots at the bottom of the controller, but there is no way to tell what those silver dots are meant for.

In a few weeks, the world will know if this is just a convincing hoax or if this is really coming to consumers very soon. After all, HTC CEO Cher Wangm said that they will announce something big at the upcoming CES 2016, as per Tech Times.

The Vive was supposed to launch this month, but HTC and Valve decided to move its release in April next year. This is because of "a very, very big technological breakthrough" that the Taiwanese phone manufacturer and American video game developer had recently made.

"We shouldn't make our users swap their systems later just so we could meet the December shipping date," said Wang.

Wang did not give a clue to where this technological step will lead users or what this technological breakthrough is all about, and if the pair of leaked images is true.
