One out of three pictures in Flickr was shot using an iPhone. That is why Apple's smartphone is now leading the Flickr Charts for 2015.
Many users love the iPhone because of its impressive photo-capturing capabilities. This is why it dominated the number of pictures uploaded to Flickr according to the portal's data-driven review of 2015, as reported by Tech Radar.
Flickr builds up an overview of the most popular camera manufacturers and models by using the metadata stored with user images. The stats is available on the Flickr Camera Finder Page. Now the portal has counted the numbers for the whole year and announced that the iPhone camera is the top choice among its community. It took Canon's position earlier this year and never looked back.
The publication also mentioned that different iPhone models took eight out of 20 positions in the list of the most popular individual cameras. The iPhone 6 is in the first place where five percent of the pictures uploaded this year were taken using this particular model.
According to The Verge, there are 800 people working on the iPhone's camera that made it so good. This team of engineers and specialist is led by Graham Townsend.
"There's over 200 separate individual parts in the iPhone's camera module," Townsend said in a segment called "Inside Apple" with Charlie Rose. Then he showed how they simulate different conditions to test out the camera's performance, from sunsets to poor indoor lighting.
Apple's competitors are probably conducting the same test the Apple is doing but the huge number of its camera team shows how high up on the priority list it's raised. "Believe it or not, to capture one image, 24 billion operations go on," Townsend added.
Apple has built its ad campaigns featuring more of the iPhone's camera, and always makes sure to feature the camera's improvements with each iPhone model.
