Apple CEO Tim Cook does not fancy the U.S. tax code, while some claim he's just avoiding the IRS.
In an interview at CBS' '60 Minutes,' Cook revealed and shared his thoughts to interviewer Charlie Rose that Apple will be losing 40 percent of its profits if they shelter profit overseas due to the tax code.
In the interview, Cook suggested a reform and said that, "This is a tax code, Charlie, that was made for the industrial age, not the digital age, it's backwards. It's awful for America. It should have been fixed many years ago. It's past time to get it done."
When Rose asked about the scheme Apple is involved where they pay little tax or no tax at all, Cook harshly rebutted "That is total political crap. There is no truth behind it. Apple pays every tax dollar we owe."
The interview also served as a tool to look into Apple deeper, which people usually don't encounter. The Chief Design Officer Jony Ive showed he's secretive studio with their future Apple devices design covered up. Other than the secretive devices and design studio, Angela Ahrendts, Senior Vice President of Retail revealed that they also have a model of an Apple store.
While Cook avoided questions about Apple's future, but Rose brought up the possibility if Apple was going into the car business like their competitors Tesla and Google, which Cook responded that they have more secrets than the CIA.
During the interview, Cook also defended Apple from its encryption issue that provides security to its users, which the Republican Senator Tom Cotton thought likewise. While Apple claims it doesn't have the access code, the Senator says it just increases the risk of terrorism or crimes which Cook respond with that there's a difference between national security and privacy.
