In a twisted turn of events, the Miss Universe 2015 is fast becoming a soap opera instead of a beauty pageant with a cause promoted by delegates who supposedly have a heart filled with humility and care for others.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Miss Colombian Ariadna Gutierrez seemed to be still basking on a couple of minutes that she was wrongfully crowned as Miss Universe 2015. After the controversial crowning of the new titleholder, Gutierrez took to Instagram to share her thoughts.
Miss Colombian posted a picture of her still wearing the crown and provided a caption in Spanish which meant, "Forever your Miss Universe!!!!!! COLOMBIA!! #misscolombia." She then posted a few more photos of herself, which made some people think that the Miss Universe 2015 1st Runner-Up was still having a hangover from her short-lived coronation.
One user said, "This moments will always be with me #missuniverse #misscolombia #backtoback Lo logramos Colombia (We did it Colombia)." At the time of her posting, the 21-year-old candidate appeared to have not yet gotten over the fact that she did not win the crown.
However, on Tuesday night, the controversial Miss Universe candidate posted another two photos with the same caption, only one in Spanish and the other English. The beauty queen thanked her supporters and congratulated the Philippines, as a country, "for their new Miss Universe."
Although some were happy about Gutierrez's post, others commented about how Gutierrez did not address Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, personally. A commenter pointed out that the Colombian should have addressed the Philippines candidate as "our Miss Universe." The failure to do this only meant that Gutierrez lacked humility and still could not get over the fact that the title is not hers, the commenter added.
How Miss Colombia 2015 reacted regarding the incident has also become the subject of discussion since the incident transpired. Aside from her supporters, Filipinos also sympathized with Gutierrez for having been humiliated in front of millions. However, her actions during the immediate wake of the incident and after the pageant have been criticized by many, with some of her initial sympathizers withdrawing their support.
