Previously according to GameSpot, the confirmed roster of characters for "Street Fighter 5" includes Chun-Li, Ryu, Charlie Nash, M. Cammy, Bison, Birdie, Necalli, Ken, Vega, Rashid, Rainbow Mika, Karin, Laura, and Zangief. Then more recently, the official Capcom website confirms F.A.N.G to be the last addition to the playable fighters in the "Street Fighter 5" roster and completes the list of fighters.
Moreover, Capcom has also revealed that there will be six more fighters namely Alex, Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri and Urien and that they will be unlocked as the players progress in the game. According to GameZone, But for those who want the characters to be available instantly, they can purchase the Season Pass.
The game's release is about two months away. There are still fighters, such as Sagat and Blanka ,from the previous titles in the Street Fighters that are missing. Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has addressed these questions in an interview with Japanese Magazine Famitsu.
According to Siliconera, Yoshinori Ono told the publication that the reason that some fighters are not in "Street Fighter 5" is because there are several characters who have similar moves or performance. As quoted Yoshinori Ono said, "It's because there are many characters that perform similarly. For this launch and its next update, we wanted to have a good balance of characters. Since we didn't want to just blindly increase the number of characters, it was a bitter decision that had to be made.
"I understand that there are also many who wish to see other characters besides Sagat, such as Blanka and more. There's a possibility that we may add more characters in some form later, so please look forward to that."
Having said that, it also explains why fans will not see Akuma, Dan and Sakura in "Street Fighter 5." The game will launch on PS4 on February 2016 starting with 16 confirmed fighters.
