'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' Release Date Delayed, Developer Wants to Make Sure Game Meets Standards

As previously announced, "Uncharted 4" will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on March 18, 2016. It turns out that due to necessary changes, fans will have to wait for five weeks more before seeing Nathan Drake.

According to GameSpot, the release date of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is pushed back to April 26, 2016, five weeks later than the original schedule. The reason for this delay is that the developers at Naughty Dog needed a bit more time to finish the game and ensure that it meets "standards."

As written by PlayStation Blog directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the announcement goes, "This is our largest Uncharted, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game's development in a timely manner. However, as we started to approach our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game's levels, we realised that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line.

"After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing)."

Lastly, the blog directors wrote, "Pushing the date is not an easy choice, and we wouldn't do it if we didn't feel in our hearts it's the best course of action for the game. To you, our loyal fans, we hope you'll accept our sincere apology. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Nathan Drake's final chapter, and now we humbly ask you to wait a bit longer."

As previously reported, fans have raised an outrage over Harry Flynn's new voice. Steve Valentine was the voice of Harry Flynn in "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" and "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception." Fans were disappointed that they heard a totally different voice for Harry Flynn, pointing that if his scenes were flashback the developers should have reused the same lines from the previous "Uncharted" titles so he would still "sound the same." Naughty Dog has not confirmed if they would rework the voice over for Flynn's voice. Could this be possibly connected with the delay?
