Former Konami Tech Director has broken silence on Kojima's departure from Konami.
For a while, the reason behind the conflict between Kojima and Konami has been a mystery to everybody until former Konami Tech Director Julien Mercaron has shared some details. The former Konami director's talk was attended by DualShockers, which relayed the details. According to the publication, Mercaron has mentioned that there was a major altercation between Konami and Kojima's Team. Furthermore, she said that Kojima was then reduced to the position of an external contractor by the company he helped build. Luckily, despite such ordeal Kojima professionally completed the game's development.
Mercaron quoted Kojima's message to his team, "Don't worry, we're going to finish our game, we will give everything we have to give, and then we will see." Mercaron was amazed at how composed and focused Kojima was all those time.
It was previously reported that as of Dec. 15, "Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain" designer Hideo Kojima is officially out of Konami. The announcement was made following the 2015 Game Awards controversy, where Konami is said to have banned Kojima from attending. Several reports say that there had been some power struggle between the game designer and the publisher and that Kojima had already left Konami shortly after "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" was released. Konami, on the other hand, had been saying that Kojima was still an employee and that he was only on leave.
After the split, Kojima reportedly formed a new studio and a partnership with Sony. According to GameSpot, a video on the PlayStation YouTube account was posted to express Sony's excitement over the newly formed partnership with the "Metal Gear Solid" designer. President of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House introduced Hideo Kojima in the video, who in turn announced that he will be working on a new PlayStation-exclusive title.
