'Doctor Who: Class' Spinoff To Feature Ashildr and Clara?

Since Jenna Coleman's departure, "Doctor Who" fans are hoping that Clara and Ashildr will appear in the "Class" spinoff.

Hypable just summed up the reasons they need a spinoff that will feature the two young "Doctor Who" characters. According to the outlet, Coleman's character got "satisfying" ending any companion deserved. On the other hand, Clara remained true to her ideas and decided to sacrifice herself for the universe.

Her appearance ended as she accompanied Ashildr (Maisie Williams) into a Tardis. No one knew where they went, but it seems a new adventure awaits for the two.

The site also noted that there hasn't been a female Doctor even in the past. Meanwhile, "The Sarah Jane Adventures" centered female character for five seasons. But the thing is, Sarah never explored in space, which might be possible for Ashildr, Clara and their time-travelling TARDIS they borrowed.

"Two women, neither of which is a Time Lord, taking the TARDIS for a spin across the universe," the outlet said. This same idea was connected to the upcoming spin-off that BBC has for the longtime sci-fi TV series. The British television network previously announced that they are gearing up a Young Adult or YA-focused spinoff series.

The Hollywood Reporter said that "Doctor Who" spinoff, which will have eight 45-minute episodes, will be penned by YA author Patrick Ness. His other YA works are the "Chaos Walking" series and "A Monster Calls."

"Doctor Who: Class" will revolve around a journey of traveling between time and space. However, this will also result into dangerous outcomes that may endanger the city and its citizen in a contemporary London timeline.

Considered as a gift to fans, the series is described to unravel a different side of "Doctor Who" and "Coal Hill School."

The new "Doctor Who" series will be produced under BBC Cymru Wales and BBC Three. Ness will work as an executive producer alongside Steven Moffat ("Sherlock") and Brian Minchin.

“No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we're bringing his brilliant storytelling into Doctor Who," Moffat said. "This is growing up in modern Britain — but with monsters!”

Meanwhile, BBC Three controller Damian Kavanagh expressed his enthusiasm on working with Ness on behalf of the network.

Kavanagh added: “We’re excited to give Patrick Ness this opportunity to work with us at BBC Three and the "Doctor Who" family. Patrick understands young audiences and I’m delighted he will use his incredible skills as a storyteller to delight audiences on BBC Three. BBC Three will always innovate and offer opportunities for brilliant new talent."

"Class" is the fourth spinoff from the franchise. It will join the roster of other "Doctor Who" spinoff series such as "The Sarah Jane Adventures," "Torchwood" and the animated series, "K-9."

"Doctor Who: Class" will premiere in 2016.
