Fans should prepare for more explosive scenes in the second half of "Suits" Season 5 as tension rises between Mike Ross and U.S. Attorney Anita Gibbs.
As previously reported, the "cold-blooded" government prosecutor who will lead the investigation against Mike Ross will be played by 50-year-old Canadian actress, Leslie Hope. The first half of the season ended with Mike being arrested, leaving fans wondering who turned him in. Hope will take the role of Assistant U.S. Attorney Anita Gibbs, who threatens to destroy the whole firm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, USA has finally released an exclusive new trailer that features Anita swearing in a voiceover to put Mike Ross behind bars." In case you think that your people are rushing down here to bail you out, you've got another thing coming," she says in the video.
"Gibbs is a fascinating character because you want to take her for the villain in this story; she's coming after these characters that hopefully by this point our fans know and love," Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) said to The Hollywood Reporter. "But at the same time she's doing something in the right. Mike Ross and Harvey Specter have pulled the wool over the eyes of all the people that they've worked for."
In a previous interview with the publication, showrunner Aaron Korsh has mentioned that "Suits" 5B will continue from the events of the episode finale of the first half of season 5. It is expected that the remaining episodes of season 5 will keep fans at the edge of their seats as not only will Mike Ross' future be at stake but also the future of those he has worked with, or in a relationship with -- Rachel.
Speaking of the plot, Adams teased, "These back six are definitely Mike-focused, but it's also the thing that everybody's having to rally behind. It's not just Mike who is under threat but the entire firm. All these characters have to completely rally together against the sort of mountain of evidence that is going to present itself at trial."
Suits Season 5B returns to USA on Jan. 27.
