‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Overtakes ‘Jurassic World’ As the Fastest Film to Hit $1 Billion Mark

No force can ever be stronger than "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," as it becomes the fastest film to set a record of $1 billion globally.

According to The Wrap, The Force Awakens was projected to surpass $1 billion on the eight day of global box office record overtaking the record speed of "Jurassic World."

The Hollywood Reporter reported that The Force Awakens crossed $1 billion global total box office record on Sunday, its 12th day of release.

The result topped the "Jurassic World" speed record of $1 billion gross on its 13th day of release.

The Disney and Lucas film also set a record for the highest second weekend over Colin Trevorrow's film as well as a stunning Christmas Day record of $49.3 million at the holiday box office scene.

Disney's distribution chief Dave Hollis said, "The speed with which records are falling is a testament to the audience broadening out. And you're seeing extraordinary repeat business."

He added that people wanted to be "part of something that has become a cultural phenomenon."

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was earlier reported to beat James Cameron's 2009 film "Avatar' for the record of highest grossing film of all time.

Meanwhile, the report said that the five movies released worldwide this Christmas were also crushed by the leading "Star Wars" film franchise, including "Point Break," "The Big Short," "Concussion," "Joy," and "Daddy's Home."

The B+ Cinema score comedy film "Daddy's Home" starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg made an unexpectedly huge Christmas Day opening of $38.8 million, taking the second spot for biggest Christmas Day opening.

On the other hand, Jennifer Lawrence's "Joy," a film based on the life of miracle mop maker Joy Mangano, took the third spot with 66 percent female audiences.

Despite the huge Christmas Day box office list, box office reports are still waiting for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to set another record for the highest grossing film of all time.
