Zayn Malik has finally broken his silence on why he left One Direction. The singer is currently enjoying life after 1D but is being bashed for splitting with Perrie Edwards.
According to Inquisitr, Malik finally revealed the real reason why he abandoned One Direction in pursuit of a solo career. The English singer confessed he could not be himself while he was with his former boyband.
"There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band. If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f***, so they could use that version. Whenever I would suggest something, it was like it didn't fit us," the 22-year-old crooner said.
Malik also stated that they had no input whatsoever when it comes to the style they wanted to do for the music they were recording. Although One Direction is the biggest, most famous boyband in the world, the singer felt weird because he felt that he was being forced to be happy even if he was not happy.
The Bradford native has been working on his solo album but while doing so, the limelight still follows him. Malik is currently being linked with model Gigi Hadid. The two were seen a few times being cozy with each other and none of them denies that they are not an item.
The latest image that surfaced was taken and posted in Instagram by the English crooner himself when the 20-year-old model flew to the UK recently. The image did not have any caption but it was powerful enough to confirm that the two are indeed dating.
Hadid is fresh-off her relationship with Joe Jonas while Malik broke off his engagement to girlfriend Perrie Edwards. In a Christmas speech, Malik was bashed by "I'm a Celebrity" winner, Vicky Pattinson, for leaving her "Geordie Shore" co-star, Edwards. Pattinson claimed in her speech that the former 1D member cheated on Edwards, reported MTV.
