Apple Devices' Prices Increase in Germany Due to New Copyright Fees; Samsung, Other Companies Do the Same

Apple increased the prices of its devices in Germany due to new copyright fees introduced in the country.

One of the biggest names in the world of technology has raised the prices for their handheld devices in Germany. According to The News Independent, the prices of handheld devices of Apple decreased because of contract-based devices. Due to copyright fees recently introduced, Germany has witnessed a rise in the prices of iPhones. A new deal was set between the tech industry and content producers that will benefit pornographic filmmakers, musicians and actors.

For the past 40 years, Apple has produced high-end handheld devices that changed the very perspective of the consumers towards how they perceive the technology-to-be. Business Insider wrote that the California-based company confirmed on Jan. 3, Sunday that there is a price increase in Germany due to the copyright levy.

The price increase will not apply to only Apple devices but to products of Samsung and other smartphone company producers as well. These companies agreed to pay 5-7 euros ($5.50-$7.70) last month for each smartphone or tablet being brought to Germany. The said agreement is based on a 1965 German law allowing consumers to make private copies of sound, images or texts in return for a small levy on the device.

This treaty, as reported by  Apple Insider, will last until 2018 and subsume compensation for iPhones and iPads that were previously sold last 2008 and 2012, respectively.

The added fee when purchasing the smartphones will be allotted among creative professionals, including a variety of groups representing acting artists of erotic and pornographic films, producers, and creators. Not only will the iPhones go on a price increase in Germany but the iPad as well.

Users wanting to buy these products from Apple need to add up an additional 8 euros to afford the devices. Nonetheless, a price increase this small will surely not affect the buyer for purchasing a product with such premium quality.
