"The Flash" has ended its second season for a mid-season break with Episode 9 "Running to Stand Still" where Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) of "Earth 2" making an unlikely deal with Zoom.
Despite the fact that "The Flash" will be returning next month, there have been updates on what fans can expect on season two episode ten "Potential Energy." In the mid-season promo, it shows that Barry (Grant Gustin) has been getting different advices from both Wells and Iris (Candice Patton) which will affect his relationship with Patty (Shantel VanSanten).
It is known that Wells' hands are tied to helping Zoom as he has his daughter Jesse (Violett Beane) imprisoned in "Earth 2." Wells is now forced to get Barry to maximum speed potential so Zoom can steal from him, International Business Times reported.
Despite that Wells is working for Zoom, he cares for Barry and warns him that if Zoom learns who he cares for, who he loves, he will take them from him. He is clearly speaking from personal experience.
On the flip side, Iris kept suggesting to Barry to tell Patty his secret. As she too felt hurt and betrayed when she discovered that Barry and Joe (Jesse L Martin) was hiding a secret from her. In the episode "Potential Energy," Barry decides to tell Patty his secret, though he might have been too late.
Meanwhile, the promo features Patty being kidnapped by Zoom. Patty's relationship with Barry aka "The Flash" unmistakably puts her life in danger. The question now lies how long will she remain alive?
If Patty does end up dying, it may trigger Barry to reach his maximum speed which may help Zoom get what he wants. If she manages to escape or be saved and lives, what now comes to the Patty-Barry relationship?
It will all boil down as "The Flash" will return on Jan. 19.
