Mads Mikkelsen Will Play The Main Villain in Marvel's 'Doctor Strange'

It was already confirmed a couple of months ago that "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelsen will be in the upcoming Marvel movie "Doctor Strange," which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") and Rachel McAdams ("The Notebook.") However, his role in the much awaited film was kept under wraps.

The 50-year-old Danish actor has been known to play villain roles like Le Chiffre in "Casino Royale" and the gruesome cannibal serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter in NBC's "Hannibal." As expected he will be playing a main villain role in the movie "Doctor Strange" opposite Cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen Strange, according to Cinema Blend,

Studio head Kevin Feige has given a bit of detail about Mikkelsen's character, saying, "Mads' character is a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect. [He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through."

Unfortunately, according to Entertainment Weekly, the production team has decided to keep names of other "Doctor Strange" chracters a secret. Therefore the production team is not yet revealing the name of Mikkelsen's character as well. "I've seen lots of names thrown around," according to Broussard. "No one has quite picked the name that we've chosen for him. It would be fun to conceal that, if we can."

Even the role of Rachel McAdams has not been disclosed. At this point, what most of us know so far is that besides Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed to be Doctor Strange, Tilda Swinton will play "The Ancient One." And since Baron Mordo, whom everyone knows as one of Strange's main enemies, will be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, the guessing still continues for Mikkelsen's role.

What do you think will be the name of Mikkelsen's character? Sound off comments below!
