Oscars 2016: Caitlyn Jenner To Lead a Campaign for 'Tangerine's Transgender Star

Caitlyn Jenner is campaigning for trans actress Mya Taylor for the Oscars. Taylor plays a supporting role in an indie drama "Tangerine," directed by Sean Baker, who was named by Variety as one of the '10 Directors to Watch' this year.

As was reported Caitlyn Jenner will be hosting the special screening of "Tangerine" on January 4, 2016 to give the film a kick off. This will be followed by a reception with the film's executive producers, Mark and Jay Duplass. Sean Baker will also be present on the said reception. This is the movie that awarded Taylor a Gotham Award as a breakthrough actor or actress. She was also nominated at the Independent Spirit Awards for her supporting role.

Caitlyn is a reality TV star that we can associate with the Kardashians. He is the biological father of Kylie and Kendall Jenner. He was also a former Olymic decathlon gold-medal champion. Just this year on April 2015 Jenner revealed to the world her identity as a transgender woman, her former name was Bruce. Jenner was married to three ex-wives, Linda Thompson, Chrystie Cronower and Kris Jenner.

The movie 'Tangerine' was entirely shot on an iPhone 5S camera. It follows the story of a transgender sex worker Sin-Dee played by Kiki Kitana Rodriguez and her friend named, Alexandra, played by Mya Taylor as a fellow prostitute. The plot is about their adventure one Christmas eve in L.A. where they are embarking to confront Sin-Dee's boyfriend and pimp, who in the movie has another love interest.

The post screening reception for the film will held at the Landmark Theater in Los Angeles. It is going to be a Magnolia Pictures Event. It will also include appearances by Jenner, Taylos, Baker, and Mark and Jay Duplass.

Magnolia is the first ever movie distributor to push for transgender actresses.
