"Aquaman" film is not coming out in theaters until 2018, but it is highly anticipated as early as now. With that, it is not surprising that this film from James Wan is being surrounded by rumors, one of the latest is that the Aquaman will go against the Ocean Master as the main villain.
According to JoBlo, instead of the main villain Black Mantra as what many comics' fans believe, the primary antagonist will be Aquaman's half-brother, Ocean Master, also known as Orm Marius. There's definitely some conflict elements between the brothers, as Breathecast said that Ocean Master believes he is the rightful heir to the throne. Also, Ocean Master is the primary villain in the comic book storyline and the animated film.
This, however, is still a rumor and would remain so for quite some time because the production team is just beginning with the screenplay. In an interview with Collider, producer Charles Roven said, "We're very early days. We're just starting with the screenplay. [James Wan]'s making The Conjuring 2 now, so he's had his hand in the creation of let's just call it a working document from which to write."
"But he's directing that film [and] he's got his hand ever so slightly in the development, but he's really gonna throw himself into it after he finishes shooting Conjuring 2. And we're planning on it being his film after Conjuring 2. He is a serious Aquaman fan," Rover assured.
While "Aquaman" solo movie will be released on July 27, 2018, fans actually don't have to wait that much longer to see the hero which will be played by "Game of Thrones'" Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa. The King of Atlantis is going to appear in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
