'The Winds Of Winter' Updates: George R.R. Martin Admits He Missed Key Deadlines; No New Novel Before 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6

"The Winds Of Winter" is not yet finished says, George R. R. Martin on his blog site. Yesterday, the famous author wrote an update about his much anticipated book "The Winds Of Winter," and as expected, the fans will be disappointed on what he has to say.

"Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words. You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me," Martin wrote.

Martin explained that he and the publishers really want the book six of "A Song Of Ice And Fire" to come out before the season 6 of "Game of Thrones" airs. Since the show will resume early April then the book must be published before the end of March.

Martin said that "For that to happen, my publishers told me, they would need the completed manuscript before the end of October. That seemed very do-able to me... in May." The first deadline given to him was Halloween.

However, it did not turn out good and there were a lot of factors that could be blamed for it. By August, Martin already faced the reality that he will not be done by Halloween. And that realization was said to "depress him."

But then again, Martin's editors and publishers gave him another chance to finish the book by the end of the year so that they will be able to release it by the end of March. To add more disappointment, here is what Martin got to say, "Here it is, the first of January. The book is not done, not delivered. No words can change that. I tried, I promise you. I failed. I blew the Halloween deadline, and I've now blown the end of the year deadline. "

It is only clear enough that "THE WINDS OF WINTER will not be published before the sixth season of GAME OF THRONES premieres in April," said Martin.

As Martin said, there is no excuse for what happened and adds that "No one else is to blame. Not my editors and publishers, not HBO, not David & Dan. It's on me."

Martin explained further that he cannot assure the fans when the book will be done or when will it be published. He will not set any deadline for himself and not live up to it. As he said, "The deadlines just stress me out."

With all that being said, the fans can expect that "The Winds Of Winter" will be out once Martin gets his hands on it. "I am going back to my stance from last March, before all this. It will be done when it's done. And it will be as good as I can possibly make it," Martin said.

According to TV Line, such news from Martin definitely killed the hopes of both his and the "Game of Thrones" fans. The fans anticipation for Martin's novel has been intense already for quite a long time. And now, it pains a lot to accept that there is no definite schedule on when will the book be ever be done.

Meanwhile, for some good news to take the sting away, a new beer by Brewery Ommegang is already on the works as an addition in their "Game of Thrones" series. The website Winter Is Coming reported that Brewery Ommegang's new beer called Seven Kingdoms Wheat Ale is set to hit the shelves in most states by March 2016.
