Samsung 'Rink' Motion Controller Looks Great For Gear VR; Works Better Than Oculus Touch?

Samsung will be showing off their latest virtual reality hardware which they call "rink" motion controller. This new device is seen to be great when using the Gear VR.

Last week, Samsung's Creative Labs revealed their three latest gadgets which they will display during the upcoming CES 2016 this coming January 6 to 9, 2016 at Las Vegas, Nevada. Based on the given descriptions, this new device will be used together with the Gear VR headset.

Those who are not familiar with what this "rink" motion controller is, it is actually a wireless secondary control box which will be attached to the Gear VR headset. It adds layer to the immersion of the user to the display seen on the headset. It is a slip over of the user's hands which is considered the as an advanced hand-motion controller for mobile VR devices. The VR headset itself is already smartphone powered.

"This will be an important addition to the smartphone powered VR head mounted (HMD), as it adds another layer of immersion, as well as removing the need for third party controllers. It also brings it more in-line with other commercial VR headsets," the report stated. These controllers will be made available to users around the globe sometime 2016.

One report added, if the users are already familiar with how Oculus works and appears, it will be similar both in features and appearance. They don't have that much difference. It's just the Oculus has its own motion controllers than Samsung's Gear VR which still needs the "rink" motion controller to function well as expected.

Samsung hasn't shared further details on the possible release date of the "rink" motion controller. Perhaps, the techies will be expecting the information during the CES 2016 tech expo this week.

Meanwhile, this new device produced by Samsung is also the closest competition against Oculus Touch which has the same features installed. However, this year, since Oculus Touch won't arrive this year, Samsung's "rink" motion controller has a full advantage to user in 2016.
