"Girls" is finally putting the controversial series to an end after six seasons of being on the air. Star and writer of the show Lena Dunham said at an interview with Elvis Duran a few months back that she already was planning on wrapping up the storylines for the girls, and that she'd want to end the show come season six.
In the same interview, Dunham says, "It's really exciting. I started working on this show when I was 23, and I'm going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world." Dunham does not only star as Hannah Horvath, but she has also created the comedy-drama based on her musings from her own life.
Season five of "Girls" has yet to premiere on February 21, and there are so many things different for Hannah, Shoshanna, Jessa, and Marnie this time around! Hannah, played by Dunham, will be starting off the season with a new beau, Fran. Shoshanna will begin her life in Japan as an expat, Jessa will do a bit of soul searching of her own as a therapist, and Marnie will pick between two men to be her husband. Adam Driver, who's currently enjoying his stint in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," will also come back in the fifth season.
Fans of the series have until 2017 to enjoy that last episodes of "Girls," and over the years since it aired in 2012, it has produced some of the most memorable sex scenes ever shown on television. Some notable ones are Hannah and Adam's scene during the pilot episodes, and Marnie and Charlie's very confusing sex encounter back in season two. "Girls" has been known to depict such scenes in a very realistic manner, leading quite a lot of viewers to feel a bit uncomfortable whenever they watch the series.
"Girls" will premiere its fifth season on February 21 on HBO.
