"Assassin’s Creed" is rumored to skip its major release in 2016 and is being pushed back to 2017. The adventure of the new game is said to be set in ancient Egypt.
The next big game of "Assassin's Creed" is code named "Empire" and was originally scheduled by Ubisoft for release in 2016 but because of the poor response of the gamers for the "Assassin’s Creed Unity" in 2014 which resulted into poor sales for the game, Ubisoft might have decided to improve the next game to avoid the fan's disappointment.
To recall, "Assassin’s Creed Syndicate" was released in 2015 which was positively received by the gamers. But it still had some technical issues like easily confused enemy AI and fidgety controls. This will be the last release under annual schedule for Assassin's Creed if the reports about the game are true, Kotaku reported.
Apart from the corroborate details from Kotaku, there are also some unconfirmed points released. The game is said to be set in Ancient Egpyt in order to avoid “historical accuracy,” thus providing freedom for heavy handed storytelling and it is set prior to the formation of the Assassins and Templars. A dark skinned protagonist is a slave or an ex-slave that has a resemblance with Altair. The storyline will focus on a trilogy about the protagonist similar to Ezio with a Greece or Rome setting in the future, 4chan wrote.
It also added that there will be no recycled content beyond animations, seamless world exploration and its size will be three times than that of "Black Flag." But all these are not yet confirmed by game developer Ubisoft.
For now, the only officially Assassin's Creed products set for release in 2016 is the "Assassin's Creed Chronicles" side-scrolling adventures which will be out in India and Russia on January and February 2016. Apart from that, fans will also get to see the live action movie "Assassin's Creed" starring Michael Fassbender that is set for release on December 2016.
Meanwhile, when Ubisoft was asked about the rumors of skipping its 2016 release, it answered Comic Book in an official statement that says, "We can’t comment on rumor or speculation. We’re always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin’s Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!"
