Move over, Oakland! Oregon is now the new place to move into!
According to CNN, Oregon is on the top list of the State to move into. Followed by South Carolina, Vermont, Idaho and North Carolina. The rest five are Florida, Nevada, District of Colombia, Texas and Washington.
Obvious as it is, we may still wonder why. According to Jay Denton, senior vice president of analytics for Axiometrics, he said that, "Job growth is really the key thing, then the lack of available units and plain demographics. Young people really like Portland."
Since last November of 2015, the rise in home sales in Portland is 11% higher. According to the statistics, there are more young millennial buyers on their housing market. One of the company who does the listing for real estate RMLS stated that the inventory for housing in Portland is down to a supply of two months. The national median in the US for a house price is $220,300 and in Portland, November prices for homes are $353,400. That is higher than the national median.
As for Brian Ramsay, a real estate agent from Hasson Co. Realtors, he said that, "You're lucky if you can be one of the first 15 offers in 24 hours. That's how hard it is for buyers to get a house now."
As far as California goes, housing over that State are so expensive but the credit for the Oregon housing surge is because of the lesser supply of water in California, thanks to El Nino. During the past six years, the number of move-ins to Oregon has increased up to 10%.
This is already the third year in a row that Oregon was put on top of the map for being the number one destination spot to live in.
