As the US capital, Washington, D.C. offers beautiful homes, perfect for a small family. These houses can be purchased at just $300,000 or under.
Washington D.C. has just been dubbed as the most expensive place in the US to raise a family, Market Watch reported. Families of four need to at least have a little over $100,000 to be able to live in the country's capital. Most of the money go to house rent.
However, Curbed D.C. recently listed homes in the city that could be bought for only $300,000 or less. By buying a house, families could lessen expenses since rent would already be out of the picture.
Although many of the homes listed are for single professionals, one property in particular is perfect for a family of four. The colonial-styled home on Martin Luther King, Jr Avenue, is being sold at $295,000. This three-storey property has a total of three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The total lot-size is 2,536 square feet and has hardwood flooring all throughout.
The listing shows that buyers could avail it on a rent-to-own basis at $1,201 per month. This means a family needs to shell out a little over $14,000 a year. This rental fee is still far cheaper than the average $20,000 a year for a similar property.
Another home located at Just Street is on sale for only $269,900. Although the exterior is not too extravagant, the interior is updated into a semi-plush living space. Just like the other property, this renovated home also has three bedrooms and two baths with brand new kitchen appliances and hardwood flooring all throughout. This modest house also has a central air conditioning system.
The three-storey property could be rented for $1,148 a month for 30 years, which means a family would shell out a mere $13,776 a year. Again, this is not as pricey as the usual rent rate in Washington, D.C.
