How to Transform Your Bathroom into a Spa

Everyone wants to break free from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life and from all the stress in the office. While going to a spa every weekend is most likely a luxury to those who have kids at home and for those who are a bit tight on the budget, there are some ways you can find your own personal haven in the bathroom.

Creating a spa-like experience in the bathroom does not necessarily have to be expensive, HGTV said. According to the publication, you can give your bathroom the look and feel of a spa with just the use of the right lighting and certain fixtures.

The outlet further noted that recreating a spa-like experience at home calls for the use of your four senses, which means that everything must pamper your sense of touch, smell, vision and hearing.

In order to experience that spa look and feel at home, you need to add some calming scents so that the moment you enter the bathroom, the scent alone will immediately put you into the state of relaxation. Scents like tea tree and eucalyptus are reportedly best for revitalizing while Ylang ylang and neroli work best before bedtime. Try to find different scents that match and suit your mood.

Apartment Therapy also said that while the scent alone can take you to a completely different experience, adding visuals in your bathroom will also help accentuate the space.

A curtain can be placed over the door or over the tub in order to give off the feeling of breaking away from your life and from all the stress for even just a moment. Adding bath salts on the bathroom counter and other spa-looking items can also add to that spa experience.

You may also make use of candles instead of using your bathroom lighting, as candles often have lower lighting, which in turn makes you feel and look better. Take note, though, that if you are already using scents in your bathroom, do not use scented candles, as these two scents will only overpower each other.
