Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes and husband Sean Eldridge who is a financier and former Democratic congressional candidate recently sold an $8.5 million loft which they listed back in June 2015. The original asking price is $8.75 million.
The pair purchased the home in 2010 for $4.5 million and renovated it with a masculine elegant interior. It was then listed in the market by August under Helliot Property Holdings Inc.
The loft building was built in 1890 with original details that include large swaths of exposed brick, hand-hewn timber columns, and 12-foot ceilings. It has a 37-foot-by-31-foot grand living room which features six mahogany windows, a wood-burning fireplace, and two nooks that contains a piano and a custom-designed wet bar, 6sqft. reported.
The timber columns in the interior also act as a natural divider in the living room and kitchen/dining area. The unit has a sleek, European-style kitchen with stainless steel countertops, a Calacatta marble-topped island, and high-end appliances just like the two SubZero refrigerators in it as well as a wine cooler. There is also a sunny breakfast room around the corner of the house which is a nice place to eat and even read a book.
The home library has heavy metal sliding doors that lead to it where one can see a room that is furnished with an executive-sized desk, chesterfield sofas, and a rolling ladder.
The three bedrooms of the apartment are seen at the opposite ends which includes the master bedroom with an en-suite bath and a 13-foot-by-13-foot dressing room. The third bedroom is configured as a private home gym.
After selling this property, it was speculated that Hughes and Eldridge are the mystery buyers of a West Village townhouse worth $22.3 million. Said sale was made in September under the name Tom van Loben Sels which is the same person behind this transaction, the Observer reported.
