According to House Beautiful, there are certain items that you need to throw away from your garage. Old paints and brushes, which no longer serve their specific purposes, must be thrown away. Old paints may also be dropped off at your local paint retailer and leave them to the task of recycling it.

Clearing out the clutter from your garage is also the perfect time to look for items that can still be donated and may be of good use for other people. Items such as CDs, DVDs, collectibles, old appliances and duplicate tools can be donated or if you want to make some money out of them, you can do so by putting them out on a yard sale or listing them on Craigslist.

It is a good idea to take every item out of your garage in order to give you a clearer picture of what you want to do with your garage. Doing so will help you plan out which area can be designated for certain items or activities.
